The content outline for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) is available on the ASPPB web site at www.asppb.net.  The EPPP is administered on computer at Pearson Vue Testing Centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. An approved applicant calls a testing site to schedule the examination for his or her chosen location and date. The cost is $650.00 [$600.00 is remitted to the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), and $50.00 is remitted to the Board as a non-refundable administrative fee]. There is also an additional test administration fee that must be paid to Pearson Vue when scheduling an appointment.

Please review the EPPP FAQ’s below prior to contacting the Board office. If there are any additional questions feel free to email the Board at info@ncpsychologyboard.org

If you have previously taken the EPPP and are required to have the score transferred to the North Carolina Psychology Board (depending on the provision under which you have made application), the link to the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) for that purpose is asppb.net/exams/eppp/eppp-score-transfer

State Examination

The Board-developed State Examination assesses the applicant’s knowledge of the North Carolina Practice Act, selected rules of the Board covering such topics as education and supervision, and other legal requirements, and the APA Ethics Code. The examination is comprised of multiple-choice questions and is a computer-based examination which you will have a two hour time limit to take. This exam is not required to be taken at a testing center. You will be required to get 50 correct answers for all levels of licensure. After receiving your admit notification and upon payment of the $200 State Examination fee to the NC Psychology Board, an applicant who has been approved by the Board for examination will be sent a link to attempt the exam.
