Online License Renewal System Now Open
The NC Psychology Board’s online license renewal system is now open. Although the deadline to renew your license is October 1st, we encourage you to complete the renewal process as early as possible.
To renew your license, you must complete the steps below. You will not be able to renew your license until all applicable requirements have been met.
Please note: If you were originally licensed after October 1, 2024, you may skip Steps 1 and 2 and proceed to the remaining applicable steps.
Renewal Steps
Licensees are required to complete the Board’s online Ethics Refresher during each renewal cycle before renewing their license.
The Ethics Refresher is a 50-question educational review covering:
This is a no-fail assessment, and you may take it as many times as necessary before the October 1 renewal deadline.
A $50 fee is charged once per renewal cycle, regardless of the number of attempts required. Payment is accepted by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
Access the Ethics Refresher through the Board’s Licensee System here.
Once completed, your Ethics Refresher will be automatically reported to your CE Broker account within 24 hours. Do not upload separate documentation for the Ethics Refresher to CE Broker, as doing so will create duplicate records and may result in inaccurate CE reporting.
Please be advised that all receipts for payment must be collected upon time of purchase. The Board does not offer copies of receipts.
Before renewing your license, you must submit certificates of completion for all required Category A and Category B Continuing Education (CE) activities through CE Broker.
The Board cannot accept CE documentation that is mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered. Any such submissions will be returned.
Submit your CE documentation by signing in to your CE Broker account. Please allow up to 24 hours for your CE completion information to be uploaded from CE Broker to the Board’s renewal system before attempting to renew your license.
If you do not already have a CE Broker account, find instructions for creating a free account here.
The Board does not require licensees to purchase a Premium or Concierge CE Broker account. The free Basic account provides everything needed to submit your CE documentation for license renewal.
When creating your account, you will need to enter your license number using the appropriate two-letter prefix:
- Licensed Psychologist / Provisionally Licensed Psychologist: PP followed by your license number (Example: PP1234)
- Licensed Psychological Associate: PA followed by your license number (Example: PA1234)
If you have questions about using CE Broker, please contact CE Broker directly:

Please direct CE Broker-related questions to CE Broker, not to the Board office.
If you are a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) or a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist, you must submit all required Supervision Reports before you can renew your license. This requirement also applies to LPAs approved for independent practice, who will submit a supervision report noting they are not currently receiving supervision.
The fastest way to submit your Supervision Report is online through the Board’s Licensee System.
Select the Supervision Report option after logging in.
Submitting paper Supervision Reports by mail may delay processing and, as a result, delay your ability to renew your license.
After completing all applicable requirements above, you may renew your license through the Board’s Licensee System.
Paper renewal applications are not available and will not be accepted.
All renewal fees must be paid online using Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Mailed payments will not be accepted and will be returned.
Please be advised that all receipts for payment must be collected upon time of purchase. The Board does not offer copies of receipts.
You may obtain a downloadable/printable copy of your renewal card from the licensee system. Renewal cards are not mailed to licensees from the Board office.
Renewing After October 1, 2026
If you are unable to complete renewal by the deadline, 10/01/2026, you are automatically eligible for a 60-day grace period. If you renew during the grace period, you will incur a $25 late fee in addition to the renewal fee. You are encouraged to complete your renewal as soon as possible. If renewal is not completed by the end of the grace period, 11/30/2026, your license is subject to board action, including suspension due to non-renewal.

Reminders
All required continuing education (CE) must also be completed and properly reported to CE Broker prior to license renewal.
Your CE Broker and Board Licensee account will show incomplete until 24 hours after your completion of the Ethics Refresher.
Licensees must submit certificates of completion for all required Category A and Category B Continuing Education (CE) activities online to CE Broker before being able to renew their license.
If you do not yet have an account with CE Broker, you can activate a free-basic CE Broker account. CE Broker’s free-basic account is sufficient to submit your CE documentation in order to renew your license. The Board does not require the purchase of a paid-premium or a paid-concierge account with CE Broker.
When creating your CE Broker account, you will need to input your license number with a two-letter prefix. CE Broker uses your license number plus a license type code to identify your record in their system. After you create your free account, you will use your email to access your CE Broker Account.
1. You will need to activate your free CE Broker account.
2. Next, enter your license number. CE Broker uses your numeric license number plus an alpha type code to identify your level of licensure in their system. When prompted, input your numeric license number starting with a two-letter alpha code depending upon your level of licensure.
Licensed Psychologist/Provisionally Licensed Psychologist: PP(your license number) Licensed Psychological Associates: PA(your license number)
3. Then, start submitting and tracking your CE documentation. Step-by-step instructions on how to report CE.
For those licensees who were licensed originally after October 1, 2024, the board still recommends you create a CE Broker account in order to submit CEs and document the required Ethics Refresher in the future. According to Board Rule 21 NCAC 54 .2104(j) An individual licensed after October 1, 2020, shall attest on the second license renewal application following licensure, and on each subsequent biennial renewal application, to having met the mandatory continuing education requirements specified in the Rule during the two years preceding the October 1st renewal date. So, if you were licensed after October 1, 2024, you are not required to obtain any continuing education credits or complete the Ethics Refresher for the upcoming renewal on October 1, 2026. You will follow all other renewal requirements but you will check the option that states CE is not required for renewal.
You are required however, to obtain 24 CE hours and attest to having these credits on the license renewal in October of 2028 which would be your second renewal. Continuing education credits do not carry over from one renewal cycle to the next, so any credits you obtain prior to October 1, 2026, would be for personal/professional benefit only. Credits obtained only during October 1, 2026-October 1, 2028, will count towards the CE requirement for the 2028 renewal.
If you are a Licensed Psychological Associate or a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist, completed Supervision Reports are required to be submitted (after August 1, 2026) to the Board prior to being eligible to renew your license. This includes licensees who have been approved for LPA Independent Practice. The quickest way to comply with the Supervision Report requirement is to file them online and can be done by accessing the licensee system and selecting the Supervision Report option. Submitting paper Supervision Reports to the Board Office will entail mailing and processing delays, which will delay your ability to renew your license.
Reminder
A contract is required to be on file at all times and must cover your current activities. This is a requirement regardless of the employment setting or activities in which you may, or may not, be engaged (e.g., unemployment, retirement, practice out-of-state, work in another field, LPA Independent Practice, etc.). A supervision contract can be mailed or emailed to the Board.
A section 1 (pages 1-3) supervision contract must be completed for licensees who are required to receive supervision, this includes who are approved for LPA Independent Practice who are practicing Neuro/Forensic Psychology.
A section 2 (pages 1 & 4) supervision contract must be completed by licensees who are not required to receive supervision (e.g., unemployment, retirement, practice out-of-state, work in another field, LPA Independent Practice not practicing Neuro/Forensic Psychology, etc.).
