Continuing Education

Continuing Education Requirements (21 NCAC 54 .2104)

During each biennial renewal period, a licensee must complete a minimum of 24 continuing education hours, a minimum of 15 of which must be completed under a Category A program sponsor. The remaining required hours of continuing education may be completed in either Category A or Category B. Included in the 15 hours under a Category A program sponsor, a minimum of 3 continuing education hours in the area of ethics in the professional practice of psychology must be completed.

All licensees are required to complete the online Ethics Refresher prior to renewing their license by the October 1st deadline. The Ethics Refresher is an educational, no-fail review with an unlimited number of attempts to correctly answer 50 questions for completion. The Ethics Refresher includes a fee of $50 once per renewal cycle, regardless of the number of attempts necessary for completion. The Ethics Refresher will include topics covered by the NC Practice Psychology Act, the Board’s Rules, and the APA Code of Ethics. Completion of the Ethics Refresher will count for one hour of Category A CE per renewal cycle. The Ethics Refresher is opened for completion the summer prior to the renewal deadline.

Online submission of the CE documentation is required. Mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered documentation to the Board office will not be accepted as meeting the CE submission requirement and the documentation will be returned. The Board has designated CE BROKER as the official submission system to comply with the CE documentation submission requirements. No other submission system or process will be accepted by the Board. Failure to submit all the required CE documentation through CE BROKER will prevent you from being able to renew your license.

LICENSEES MUST SUBMIT CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION ONLINE FOR ALL CATEGORY A AND CATEGORY B CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) ACTIVITIES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO RENEW THEIR LICENSE BY THE RENEWAL DEADLINE

  • Online submission of the CE documentation is required.
  • Mailed, faxed or hand-delivered documentation to the Board office will not be accepted as meeting the CE submission requirement and the documentation will be returned.
  • The Board has designated CE BROKER as the official submission system in order to comply with the CE documentation submission requirements.  
  • No other submission system or process will be accepted by the Board.
  • Failure to submit of all the required CE documentation will prevent you from being able to renew your license.
  • You must complete your CE documentation submission requirements before you can renew your license.  While the license renewal process will not be opened until August, you can start submitting your CE documentation today!

TO SUBMIT YOUR CE DOCUMENTATION

  1.  You will need to activate your free CE Broker account at: https://cebroker.com/nc/account/basic/
  2. Next, enter your license number.  [CE Broker uses your numeric license number plus an alpha type code to identify your level of licensure in their system.  When prompted, input your numeric license number starting with a two-letter alpha code depending upon your level of licensure (i.e. Licensed Psychologists and Provisionally Licensed Psychologists (use PP before your four digit numeric license number) and Licensed Psychological Associates (use PA before your four digit numeric license number)
  3. Then, start submitting and tracking your CE documentation
